Petals and Pastels

I didn't intend on sourcing the entire spring line in a day, but I did! I found the most delightful fabrics that suited my vision and was able to quickly edit down my selections to a cohesive collection. A few months ago, I was hesitant to go a floral route with my first spring collection, as it is so obvious. However, we are having a floral moment in fashion, I absolutely adore flowers, and it was just the right choice.

So, when I decided to go for it, I embraced it with open arms. Floral comes in many shapes sizes and colors, but dimension is what's in right now. Many designers showcased dimensional florals in their FW 2015 collections, one of my favorite's being Marchesa. I loved it on the runway and I'm so excited to bring you very wearable version for daily life. At its center, the JDH Spring/Summer 2016 collection includes both floral and leaf designs, in pastel shades.

Now, if you know me, you know I don't do many pastels. I simply prefer more depth in color, though not necessarily great intensity. However, if I do a pastel it will have some dimension to the color! I am happy to bring you my version of pastel in the SS 2016 collection, releasing in March.

As I have all of the fabric, my next step is to actually create the pieces. Included with my new designs will be one piece from my 2015 Sewing Challenge. I am, also, considering sourcing for one or two additional pieces that would stand out from the pack just a bit. I can't wait to share the new collection with you in all of its floral pastel glory. Keep posted here for updates and more behind the scenes insights!
